My favorite holiday memory is as a small child growing up in Brooklyn, New York. My Mother and Father took me to see the Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall. I remember walking up to this beautifully lit building with masses of people bundled up in winter clothes waiting on line to get in. You could literally feel the excitement in the air. As I held my Mother’s hand, I could see a big smile on her face as she knew how happy I was at that moment. I remember feeling like such a grown up as we were ushered to our seats. Watching the show was amazing and of course seeing Santa and the Rockettes was euphoric. To this day, I still have such a vivid memory of that trip and it is one that I shall cherish forever!
going skiing
I remember as a kid during the holidays making treats with my grandma. I think I ate just as many as we made during the process. Grandma always made it so much fun.
I really love winter holidays. At this time, everything around seems fabulous and magical. I spent these holidays at home with my family. At first, we all started preparing for the holiday together: we decorated the apartment, decorated the Christmas tree, packed gifts. And then on New Year’s Eve we rejoiced that warmth and comfort reigned in our house, and all close people were nearby.
On Christmas Eve in TexAs it snowed. I woke my boys up to go play in it.
I remember waking up and opening my door and saw my new bike headed under the tree!

My favorite Christmas memory was during my last year believing in Santa. I was keeping an eagle eye on my parents all night during our extended family Christmas Eve party, so I would know if they left to put presents under the tree for us. Favorite winter holiday memory: Mother Moss’ house in the backwoods of NC on Christmas Eve. Had to access an access road to get there which was ditch-filled red clay. The number of cars in the yard, said that most of her church was at her house and they were all my relatives. I was 4 years old, and between taking a bite from my filled plate, I was inundated with kisses from people I didn’t know, had never met. All of the men smelled like sweet Old Spice, and all the women shawled in fox collars, like Noxema. So many voices filling the room confused my ability to figure out what was being talked about, but the sound, the ringing laughter was clear. Joy.
Blessed holidays to you,
Angel.

I will never forget the snowstorm of 1967. I was about 7 years old. The show was piled so high by the plows, people were walking parallel with the garage roofs. My favorite memory was our snow fort that we built. It was so big, we could stand up in it. There were big piles of snow all over that we could sled down. It was a great time to be a kid.
My favorite memory starts on Christmas eve. My mom brought out all the candy and cookies she had been baking for weeks. My mom’s side of the family came over and we opened our gifts and ate candy and cookies. My favorite holiday memory was 14 years ago in Blue Springs, Missouri.
It was Christmas time and the weather turned on us where we could not get home to Texas to see family. It snowed a lot. The snow turned into ice. Our electricity went out, too. It was so cold in the house. A good friend of mine had a farm not to far from us. They invited us to stay with them until our electricity came back. They did not have power either, but they did have an old wood burning stove that heated the farm house. It was the nicest time because we were grateful for a warm place to go and friends that took care of us. I’ll never for that time.

My favorite winter holiday memory is the sound of tissue paper tearing. When I was a child, the gifts that appeared overnight were wrapped in tissue paper, and my sister and I were allowed to rip those open and enjoy them. The gifts wrapped in fancier paper were for us to open together as a family– after my parents got out of bed. As an adult, I have revisited those fond memories by wrapping my daughter’s gifts from Santa in tissue paper. Hearing her tear into those tissue wrapped treasures brings back my own feelings of Christmas morning delight.

My favorite holiday memory is remembering when I was a kid and running down the stairs to see what santa left me and that excitement of not knowing what is in the paper wrapped boxes. Ripping off the paper and seeing what each one had was like a joy I can never relive as an adult. I wish I can go back to being a kid and do it all over and maybe cherish it a little better and take more pictures, like my mom wanted me to do, and just enjoy the moment more than I did. I wish I knew what I know now so that I could have really done more to have more memories to look back on today.

Interesting collection of books.
My favorite winter, holiday memory is of visiting family in Purdy, Missouri when she was five years old. We are from the Mississippi Delta and snow is something we seldom see. While visiting family it snowed several inches. She wanted to play in he snow so I put her coat, hat and gloves on and she went out. I called her several times to come in, but she was being her typical hard-headed self. She finally came and she was so excited. This was new to her. She was telling me all about it…then…he little hands started warming up! Oh, she was miserable and in pain. Even tho she hurt, the joy I got from watching her and playing with her in this unusual treat is one of my favorite memories of her childhood.
Thanks for hosting the giveaway, Bill! My favorite winter memories are waiting for my grandparents to visit and seeing them finally pull into the driveway after driving from Florida to Massachusetts.
Thank you for the great work and this wonderful opportunity!
Family snowboarding trip!
My favorite holiday memory is Christmas Eve, 1985 — that’s the day that I proposed to my wife and she said YES! We bought our first tree together two days later, and we *still* use that tree every year!
We were married the next year and spent 32 wonderful years together, raising 4 wonderful kids, before she finally lost her 7-year battle with brain cancer back in 2018. We continue to use the tree that my (future) wife and I bought back in 1985, and the kids decorate that tree (one of about 10 in the house) the way “Mom” would want it decorated.
A huge fan of your books! Thank you for the giveaway!

best winter memory would be the big blizzard we had in 2014 it was also the same day I was able to bring my daughter home from the hospital. We had spent a extra 3 days in the ER due to the blizzard. We were finally able to leave and we drove 5mph and it took 45 minutes to get home when it should have took only 15. We got home safely and blessed. will NEVER forget that week ever.
that was the best day because we were discharged from the hospital. I gave birth to my daughter on January 14th the blizzard hit that day and did not stop until the 17th.
