June Reading

If you’ve read Different Lee and Soul Switch and enjoyed them, I recommend trying  Blood is Thicker than Runes, the third volume in the series. Given its wedding background, it makes especially good sense for June, a month when weddings are popular.

Blood is Thicker than Runes

Organizing a wedding can be complicated at the best of times. The protocols are especially hard to deal with when the groom is the dragon king’s grandson, and the bride is the only known good vampire. When you add a best man with a dark secret and a bridesmaid who is under a spell, the situation becomes even trickier. But what if the wedding crashers include an agent for a former death god and a teenage girl claiming to be the reincarnation of an ancient sorcerer? That’s the moment when DL wonders if it’s too late for him and Ekaterina to elope. Unfortunately, old enemies they thought they had defeated have other ideas.

This month marks the beginning of a new serial on Substack, this one related to the Spell Weaver series and a sequel to my earlier serial, North of Midnight. The new one is a nice choice for June, when outdoor carnivals become more common

Carnival of Deepest Desire

Alexandra and Carlos are still searching for Antonio, who has run away to save people from the unusual changes hostile magic has forced upon him. But instead of finding him, they find a mysterious carnival in one of Carpinteria’s parks. It’s radiating huge amounts of magic but is invisible to ordinary people–so far. How long it remains that way is anyone’s guess, but Carlos and Alexandra need to wait for reinforcements before they enter to investigate. Unfortunately, circumstances  pull them into the carnival before they’re ready.
