February Reading

Those of you who are mythology fans may wish to consider one of my two retellings designed for a modern audience, each of which is available for $2.99.

Fateful Pathways: A Story of Theseus

Born of a mother manipulated by the goddess Athena into sleeping with a king and a god on the same night, Theseus’s life was never going to be easy. Athena’s plan is for him to be the hero and king who will preside over a new golden age for Athens. But to achieve that goal, Theseus can never stop fighting, first to win the crown and then to keep it. Bandits, rebels, monsters, witches, and even hostile deities stand in his way. Athena claims he is fated to succeed, but even she admits that fate is not a single path but a road with many forks. Has her intervention helped him become the hero he was meant to be? Or has she doomed him to a life of failure?

Harmony and Disharmony: A Story of Orpheus and Jason

Orpheus is not interested in inheriting his father’s throne. He wants nothing more than to use music to bring joy to his fellow mortals. Jason believes that nothing is more important than wresting his father’s throne from a usurper. He wants to perform heroic feats that will earn him as much glory as possible. Under ordinary circumstances, Orpheus and Jason would probably never have met. Certainly, they would never have been allies. But scheming gods plunge them into adventures greater than either of them has ever imagined. Both of them want to achieve their respective dreams. But facing hostile armies, monsters, and even conflicts among the gods will force them into horrible dilemmas. Will they sacrifice their dreams, or will they die trying to preserve them?

  1. My parents, if it wasn’t for them I and my siblings wouldn’t be here and also my family and kids wouldn’t be here.

  2. My favorite love story is my own lol
Me and my husband will be celebrating 24 years of marriage this year, we’ve been together for 26 years. We always found our way to each other when we were young.

  3. One of my favorite love stories is Spirited Away—not in the traditional romantic sense, but in how Chihiro and Haku’s bond transcends time and memory. Their connection feels fated yet fragile, built on trust, kindness, and a deep sense of belonging. There’s something beautiful about love that isn’t just romance but also recognition—of who you are and who you once were.

  4. Some of my favorite love stories are
    1. Mistakes Were Made by Meryl Wilsner
    2. She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen
    2. Blood Bound Series by Elle Mae

  5. Thank you so much for this opportunity! It might be a cliché, but my favorite love story is Jamie and Claire in Outlander – their love is truly unforgettable.

  6. I’m not really into love stories. I love baseball though and the outdoors and I’m looking very forward to Spring! Thanks for the chance to win!

  7. ONE OF MY FAVORITE LOVE STORIES IS THE ONE FEATURED IN “DANGERS KISS” BY GLYNNIS CAMPBELL. IN IT, THE SHERIFF FALLS FOR A LOVELY OUTLAW.

WELL WORTH READING AND FUNNY AT TIMES ALSO.

  8. My favorite love story has always been Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are so perfect for each other and I can endlessly re-read their story.

  9. Favorite love story? Meaning a book or real life? In real life, my favorite love stories involve the ‘pet distribution system’ delivering pets in need of lvoe

  10. One of my favorite love stories is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It’s a timeless tale of misunderstandings, personal growth, and the transformative power of love. Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy’s journey from prideful disdain to mutual respect and affection is both witty and heartwarming. Their relationship teaches us that love often requires humility, patience, and the courage to see beyond first impressions—a beautiful reminder that true connection comes from understanding each other deeply.

  11. I don’t have a specific favorite love story, but I’ve always found unconventional love stories the most interesting—ones where love grows through challenges rather than instant attraction. If I had to pick one, the bond between Dom and Maria from Gears of War stands out. It’s tragic yet powerful, showing how love endures even in the darkest times. Stories like these remind me that love isn’t just about happy endings, but also about perseverance and sacrifice.

  12. Hello, Mr. Hiatt!
I think my favorite love story would be Pride and Prejudice. I like love stories with drama and period works are my favorites, with all the elegance of those times and the way people would conduct themselves back then.

  13. We met in a nightclub when she threw paper airplanes at me and over 35 years later we are still together and in love, true

  14. I just wanted to thank you for bringing us so many good reads. I always look forward to what you share with us!

  15. The Creation and Temptation of Gilgamesh would be my choice out of these three books. I have always enjoyed mythology and books about ancient gods and their exploits.

  16. My favorite love story is mine and my husband’s. We met in Greenwich Village 52 years ago. We both lived on the third floor of a crummy apartment house on Horatio Street. Once we met, we were together forever.

P.S, That apartment house has been super renovated and all apartments are over 1.5 million dollars.

  17. I’m a sucker for love stories. A Walk to Remember is the first love story I read as a teenager that really connected with me. I cried and cried but loved it so much.

  18. Me and my wife story:
I always left a coffee on her desk before she arrived. One day, she left a note: Meet me at 7? That night, over coffee, we fell in love.

  19. Love is like a fine tea—brewing slowly, needing the right balance of warmth and patience. It can be delightful and uplifting, but oversteeped, it turns bitter.

  20. “A Room with a View” is my favorite love story because it beautifully captures the tension between societal expectations and true passion. Lucy, the imperfect heroine show growth from repression to self-discovery. I love the scene with Lucy and George in the field of violets in the Italian country side. E.M. Forster masterfully portrays love as something that requires courage—choosing the heart over convention. The novel’s message, that real love brings freedom and authenticity, resonates deeply. This book stands the test of time as the best love stories aren’t just about romance, but about becoming our truest selves.

  21. I told my significant other on Valentines Day that I was pregnant, and I did so by giving him his valentines gift which was a wrapped up pair of baby booties!

  22. One of my favorite love stories is Pride and Prejudice, it’s a timeless story of love, self-discovery, and second chances.

    Thanks for the chance!

  23. Caroline Franklin

I’ve been with my soul mate since 2007. We met when we were just 16 in job corps. It’s shown me the most beautiful love story ever. Full of ups, downs, joy and happiness.

  24. My favorite love story is my own, the one I have been writing and living with my husband for 47 years this month. We’ll celebrate our anniversary with a second honeymoon in Puerto Rico.

  25. So, bit of a tangent, but my favorite romance is definitely not Romeo and Juliet- It’s literally a teen tragedy rofl. To keep it Shakespearean though, Anthony and Cleopatra is a classic! Venus in Furs is great too!

  26. I’m not sure if the question is referring to a book or real life so my favorite love story book is UGLY LOVE. My favorite love story in real life would be my man and I . I was 17 & he was 19 when we first started dating & been together for 8 years ever since and many more to come<3 We both didn’t grow up with adults in healthy relationships so we worked hard together to break generational curses!

  27. My favorite love story is my grandparents. Watching a couple go through 30 years of military moving around so much with a large family and then watching my grandfather as he aged with alzheimers and the true care she took care of him with is something no book can truly touch.

  28. my favorite story is my own. My husband and I met in college and this year we’re celebrating our 50th Anniversary

  29. The Pinky Promise

Lucas and Sofia were inseparable. At ten years old, they spent every afternoon racing bikes and sharing secrets under the big oak tree.
One day, Lucas handed Sofia a folded paper. Inside was a clumsy drawing of two stick figures holding hands with a red heart. Best friends forever, it read.
Sofia smiled and held out her pinky. “Pinky promise?”
Lucas hooked his pinky around hers. “Pinky promise,” he said, grinning.
At that moment, nothing felt stronger than their friendship.

  30. My favorite love story is the Notebook! As someone with an incurable brain condition (Arnold-Chiari), I know my husband would take care of me just like in the book. I’m truly blessed.

  31. i had a casual meeting with a woman and we enjoyed so much to spend the time together that we are already dating for two years

  32. I met this girl at a party my buddy was throwing at his place. She was interesting and cool, read a lot of the same books I had, watched a lot of the same shows etc. we kissed softly on the couch late into the night and fell asleep cuddling. The next morning I took her to breakfast and she was so much fun! Super easy to talk to, not to serious, just remembering makes me smile 🙂 I’m not sure why it stopped, I was talking to a few girls at the time and I think I wanted to commit to someone else

  33. There’s a kiss I’ll never forget. A kiss that can’t compare to old and new kisses.
We were making out and it felt like I was in space. Like we were surrounded by the stars. Each kiss felt like I was sinking deeper and deeper to nowhere like a place where both of us only exist. It was a kiss that felt so much passion and we looked at each other. We didn’t speak it out loud but we both knew we wanted each other so badly.
I’ll never forget that kiss. The soft lips meets gentle craving passion colliding with mine. It was like we were making out for a long time. Like time stopped. A kiss that stopped time and floated in space hugged by the stars.
